Agility Robotics is betting on faster-charging batteries. And they’re partnering up with a battery company in the United Kingdom to do it.

What’s happening:

  • Agility Robotics has selected United Kingdom based company Nyobolt as the exclusive battery supplier for their new humanoid robot known as Digit 5

Why it matters:

  • Agility Robotics has publicly stated that Nyobolt’s batteries will enable Digit 5 to run for 90 minutes on a 9 minute charge and enable more than 20 hours of functionality per day

Going deeper:

  • Agility Robotics just recently made major waves when they unveiled Digit 5 and publicly stated that it is capable of lifting 50 pounds and operating in complex work environments
  • Nyobolt’s batteries are purpose built to deliver high power and extremely fast charging from a small, light pack for robots to be able to run near-continuously and only requiring short charging stops
  • Symbiotic (NASDAQ: SYM) notably led Nyobolt’s $60M Series C financing round
