Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 22, 2026
The short version
This is a summary. The full policy below is the policy that applies. If the summary and the full text differ, the full text controls.
- We are Quantum Ventures Inc., a British Columbia company doing business as The New Money. This policy covers our website, newsletter, mobile app, share links, and The New Money Pro.
- We collect your email address for the newsletter and Pro, your phone number to sign you in to the app, the watchlists and settings you choose, and information about your device and how you use our services. We do not use passwords.
- Our website shares device and browsing data with advertising partners (Google, Meta, LinkedIn, X, and Taboola) for targeted ads and ad measurement. We also share coded (hashed) newsletter email addresses with Meta, X, and Taboola. Some US state laws call this a "sale" or "sharing". You can opt out. See Your Privacy Choices.
- We store most information in the United States, including information about Canadians.
- To delete your account, write to [email protected]. The app has no delete button yet. See Delete your account.
- You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information. Our Privacy Officer answers privacy questions.
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
Quantum Ventures Inc., a British Columbia company doing business as The New Money ("The New Money", "we", "us"), is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Our address is 3750 Shelbourne St #202, Victoria, BC V8P 4H4, Canada.
This policy applies when you use any of these (together, the "Services"):
- our website at https://www.thenew.money
- our email newsletter
- The New Money mobile app for iOS and Android
- our share links at share.thenew.money
- The New Money Pro ("Pro") at https://pro.thenew.money
Our Terms of Service and Refund Policy also apply to your use of the Services. "Personal information" means information about an identifiable person. It includes your IP address and device identifiers.
2. Information we collect
What we collect depends on which Services you use. We do not collect passwords, dates of birth, precise location, or government ID numbers. We do not receive your full card number.
2.1 When you visit our website
We and our analytics and advertising partners collect:
- your IP address
- your browser type, operating system, device type, screen size, and language
- the pages you view, the links you click, the page that sent you to us, the campaign tags in the link you followed (for example, UTM tags), and the time of each visit
- an approximate location (city or region) that our analytics provider works out from your IP address
- cookie identifiers and similar identifiers (section 5)
Our website has no user accounts.
2.2 When you join our newsletter
Every newsletter form on our website, including the Pro waitlist form, collects:
- your email address
- the name of the form you used, the page you were on, and the campaign tags in that page's web address
Beehiiv, our newsletter provider, records whether each email is delivered, opened, and clicked.
If you join the Pro waitlist on our website, we also add you to our newsletter.
2.3 When you contact us
- Our contact forms collect your name, email address, and message. Formspark receives these forms for us.
- When you email us, we receive your email address and everything in your message.
2.4 When you use the mobile app
- Your phone number. You sign in with your phone number and a one-time code that we send by text message. We keep a history of the phone numbers on your account to protect it from takeover. You also pick your country so we can format the number. We do not store the country.
- Your username and profile photo. Both are optional. We treat them as public. Your profile photo is stored at a public web address. Anyone who has that address can see the photo.
- Your watchlists and topics. These are the companies, cryptocurrencies, trends, and newsfeed topics you choose. We use them to build your feed and to choose which push alerts you get.
- Your saved articles.
- Your push token. If you allow notifications, we store a push token for your device, the device platform (iOS or Android), and when the token was last used.
- Your notification preferences, such as quiet hours, if you set them.
- App usage. Google Analytics for Firebase records the screens you open. This includes the titles of the articles you read and the names of the companies, cryptocurrencies, and trends you view. It also records your device model, operating system, app version, and IP address. We do not send your phone number or account ID to Google Analytics.
- Install attribution. AppsFlyer records which ad or link led you to install the app, and whether you then created an account. On Android, this uses your device's advertising ID. On iOS, we use Apple's SKAdNetwork, which reports ad results without identifying you. We do not ask for permission to track you on iOS, and the app does not read the iOS advertising identifier (IDFA).
- A bot check. Before we send a sign-in code, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are a person. It reads information about your device and browser to do this.
The app asks for access to your photos only when you choose a profile photo, and for permission to send notifications. The app does not use your camera, microphone, contacts, or location. Some information stays only on your device and does not come to us: your recent searches and your light or dark mode choice.
2.5 When you use The New Money Pro
- Your email address. You sign up and sign in with an email link. Pro does not ask for your name or phone number. If you also use the app, the phone number on that account stays part of your account.
- Your account record. This includes the start and end of your free trial, your access status, your plan and renewal date, whether you have cancelled, and the IDs that connect your account to your purchase from Link.
- An invite code, if you joined Pro with one.
- Your Pro watchlists.
- Trial email records. We keep a record of each trial email we send you and of your choice to stop them.
- Technical information. This includes your IP address, browser, sign-in times, and error logs. We use it to keep Pro secure, to limit repeated sign-in attempts, to check that you are a person, and to fix errors.
Link collects your name, billing address, and payment details when you buy Pro. Link keeps them under its own privacy policy. We receive your plan, your payment status, and your charge dates. We do not receive your full card number.
2.6 When you open a share link
When you open a link at share.thenew.money, we send Google Analytics a record of the visit. The record includes a one-way code made from your IP address and the date. The code changes every day, and we do not store your IP address. The record also includes the page that sent you, your browser language, whether your device is a phone, and any campaign tags in the link. If you open the link on a phone that does not have our app, the page also loads Google Analytics in your browser.
2.7 If you are a contact at a company we cover
We hold the work email address that you or your company gave us. We use it to tell you when we publish an article that mentions your company. We keep a record of each of these emails so that we do not send the same email twice. To stop these emails, write to [email protected].
2.8 Information from other sources
- Link tells us your plan, your payment status, and your charge and renewal dates.
- AppsFlyer and our advertising partners give us reports about which ads led to visits, newsletter sign-ups, and app installs. These reports are mostly in aggregate form.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the Services. We sign you in, keep your account, save your watchlists and articles, send the newsletter, and decide whether you have access to Pro.
- To personalize the Services. Your watchlists and topics choose what appears in your feed and which push alerts you get.
- To communicate with you. We send sign-in codes and links, trial emails, service notices, and answers to your messages.
- To handle Pro billing. We connect your account to your purchase from Link, handle failed payments, and keep the records that tax law requires.
- To understand and improve the Services. We use analytics to learn which pages, articles, and features people use, and to find and fix errors.
- For advertising and measurement. We show ads for The New Money on other websites and apps, including to people who visited our website. We measure which ads lead to visits, newsletter sign-ups, and app installs.
- To keep the Services secure. We check for bots, limit repeated sign-in attempts, and protect accounts from takeover and abuse.
- To meet legal obligations and to enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not give your phone number or your Pro email address to advertising partners. We do upload newsletter email addresses to some of them (section 4.2).
Some text in Pro is written with the help of AI tools. These tools work from market data, news, and filings. We do not give them your personal information.
We do not make decisions that have legal or similar effects on you by automated means alone.
4. How we share your information
4.1 Service providers
Service providers help us run the Services. They may use your information only to provide services to us. The main ones are:
- Hosting, content delivery, and security: Cloudflare (website and Pro hosting, bot checks, and routing of some analytics requests), and Webflow (which still serves some images on our website).
- Database, sign-in, and file storage: Supabase, which runs on Amazon Web Services in the United States.
- Text-message sign-in codes: Twilio.
- Push notifications: Expo, Apple Push Notification service, and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- Email: Beehiiv (newsletter), Resend (sign-in emails), and Google Workspace (trial emails, emails to company contacts, and support email).
- Analytics: Google Analytics, including Google Analytics for Firebase in the app.
- App install attribution: AppsFlyer.
- Contact forms: Formspark.
We give each provider only the information it needs. Our contracts require providers to protect personal information with the same or equal protection as this policy.
4.2 Advertising partners
Our website uses tags from Google (Google Ads), Meta, LinkedIn, X, and Taboola. These tags send the partner your IP address, cookie and device identifiers, the pages you view, and actions such as a newsletter sign-up. In the app, AppsFlyer tells the ad networks we buy app ads from (Google, Meta, X, Taboola, and Reddit) whether their ads led to an install or a sign-up.
We also upload our newsletter email list to Meta, X, and Taboola. Before upload, each email address is turned into a one-way code (hashed). Each partner matches the codes to its own users, so that it can show our ads to them or to similar people, or not show our ads to people who already subscribe. We do not upload phone numbers or Pro email addresses.
These partners use the information to show you ads, to measure ads, and for their own purposes under their own privacy policies. Some US state laws call this a "sale" of personal information or "sharing" it for targeted advertising. To opt out, see section 6, Your Privacy Choices.
4.3 Link, the seller of Pro
Link, a service of Stripe, sells Pro to you as the merchant of record. Link is a seller, not only our service provider. When you buy Pro, we send Link your email address, your account ID, and any referral code. Link's privacy policy covers the information Link collects.
4.4 Information you make public
Your app username and profile photo are public. Do not put information in them that you want to keep private.
4.5 Other disclosures
- Legal and safety: when the law requires it, to answer a valid request from a court or government, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or us.
- Business transfers: if we sell, merge, or reorganize all or part of our business. The buyer must protect your information as this policy describes.
- With your consent or at your direction.
5. Advertising, cookies, and tracking
Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser. Tags and pixels are small pieces of code that send information to the company that made them.
5.1 Cookies we set on our website
- tnm_newsletter_dismissed remembers that you closed or used the newsletter pop-up. It lasts 5 days after you close the pop-up, or 365 days after you subscribe.
- tnm_open_in_app_dismissed remembers that you closed the "open in app" banner. It lasts 3 days.
5.2 Cookies Pro sets
- Sign-in cookies (names that start with __Host-sb-) keep you signed in.
- tnm-appearance, tnm-nav-options, and tnm-chart-type remember your display choices. They last 1 year.
- tnm-market-view remembers the market view you chose. It lasts up to 4 days.
- tnm-trial-banner and tnm-trial-modal remember that you saw a trial message. They last 2 days and 10 days.
- Browser storage (not a cookie) remembers the watchlist you opened last.
Pro has no advertising tags and no analytics tags.
5.3 Partner tags on our website
Our website loads tags through Google Tag Manager. The tags come from Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, X, and Taboola. Each partner can set its own cookies and read its own identifiers. Some Google Analytics requests go through a web address on our own domain. Your browser also downloads fonts from Google, which receives your IP address.
5.4 Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal or a Do Not Track (DNT) signal, our website treats it as a request to opt out. Before any tag loads, we tell Google that ad storage, analytics storage, ad user data, and ad personalization are denied. Our other advertising tags are set not to run without ad storage consent. This applies to the browser that sends the signal.
We respond to Do Not Track the same way as to Global Privacy Control. Apps do not receive these browser signals. Section 6 explains your choices in the app.
6. Your Privacy Choices
You can opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information and of targeted advertising in these ways:
- Turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser or a browser extension. See globalprivacycontrol.org. We treat the signal as an opt-out for that browser (section 5.4).
- Email us at [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy". We apply your opt-out to the information we can connect to you, and we remove your email address from the lists we upload. Our website tags work by browser, so also turn on Global Privacy Control in each browser you use.
- Use the advertising partners' tools.
- Google: My Ad Center and the Google Analytics opt-out add-on
- Meta: ad preferences
- Industry opt-out tools: Digital Advertising Alliance, Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada, Network Advertising Initiative, and Your Online Choices (Europe)
- In the app on Android, delete or reset your advertising ID in your device's privacy settings. On iOS, the app does not read the advertising identifier.
Other choices you have:
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter with the link at the bottom of every issue.
- Turn off push notifications (section 7).
- Stop Pro trial emails with the link in each trial email.
- Change or remove your username and profile photo in the app: tap your profile photo at the top of the screen to open Settings.
- Delete your account (section 8).
We do not charge you more or give you a lower level of service because you use these choices.
7. Emails, text messages, and push notifications
- Newsletter. We send it to people who sign up on our website, including the Pro waitlist. We send a welcome email when you join. Every issue has an unsubscribe link.
- Pro emails. We send sign-in links when you ask for them. During a free trial without a card, we send up to three trial emails. Each trial email has a link that stops them. Link sends receipts, invoices, and payment and renewal notices. Signing up for Pro does not add you to the newsletter.
- Text messages. We send text messages only to deliver your sign-in codes. We do not use your mobile number for marketing. We do not share your mobile number with third parties for their marketing. Message and data rates may apply.
- Push notifications. If you allow them, we send alerts about news and articles, chosen in part by your watchlists and topics. To stop them, open Settings in the app and turn off Push Notifications, or turn off notifications for The New Money in your device settings.
8. Delete your account
The app and Pro do not have a delete button yet. To delete your account, email [email protected] with the subject line "Delete my account". You do not need the app to do this.
- Send the email from the email address on your Pro account, or tell us the phone number you use to sign in to the app. You can write from any address.
- We check that the request comes from the account holder. If your account has only a phone number, we text a code to that number and ask you to send it back to us. If we cannot confirm the request, we ask you for more information.
- We delete your account within 30 days of confirming the request, and we tell you when it is done.
If you pay for Pro, cancel your subscription first in Pro under Account & billing, then Manage billing, or at link.com. We do not cancel it for you when we delete your account. If you do not cancel, Link can continue to charge you.
What we delete:
- your account, your phone number, and your phone number history
- your username and profile photo
- your watchlists, topics, saved articles, and notification preferences
- your push tokens
- your Pro account record, Pro watchlists, trial email records, and invite records
What we keep, and why:
- Records of Pro payments and billing events, for up to 6 years, because tax and accounting laws require them.
- Payment records that Link and Stripe hold. Link keeps them under its own policy. You can ask Link to delete them.
- Feedback you sent us, with your name and account removed.
- Security records in a coded form that cannot be read back to your phone number, to stop abuse and duplicate accounts.
- Analytics data that Google Analytics and AppsFlyer hold. It is not linked to your account, and it is deleted on their schedules (section 9).
- Copies in our backups. Backups roll off automatically within 7 days. We do not restore deleted accounts from backups.
Deleting your account does not unsubscribe you from the newsletter. Use the unsubscribe link, or ask us in the same email. Signing out of the app does not delete your account.
9. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as the law requires.
- Account data (app and Pro): while your account is open, then up to 30 days after you ask us to delete it (section 8).
- Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe. Beehiiv keeps a record that you unsubscribed so that we do not email you again.
- Billing records: as long as tax and accounting laws require, usually 6 years in Canada.
- Analytics data: under the settings we choose with each provider. Google Analytics keeps event data for 2 months and user data for 14 months.
- Sign-in code records: Twilio keeps them under its own policy.
- Messages to us and company-contact email records: 3 years after our last contact with you.
10. Where we store information
We and our service providers store and process personal information mainly in the United States, and in other countries where our providers work. This includes information about people in Canada. Our main database is in the United States. The law in those countries can differ from the law where you live. Courts, police, and other authorities in those countries can get access to the information under their laws.
If you live in Quebec, we assess the protection your information gets before we transfer it outside Quebec, as Quebec law requires.
11. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information. Our sites use encrypted connections (HTTPS). We do not store passwords. Our database rules let each account read only its own private data. Only staff who need access to personal information have it. No system is completely secure, and we cannot promise that your information is always safe.
If a breach of security creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we tell you and the regulators, as the law requires.
12. Children
The Services are not for children. You must be the age of majority where you live, and at least 18, to use the Services. In British Columbia, that age is 19. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. We do not sell or share the personal information of anyone we know is under 16. If you think a child gave us personal information, write to [email protected] and we delete it.
13. Your rights
13.1 Rights for everyone
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy
- correct information that is wrong
- delete your information (section 8)
- stop an optional use, such as the newsletter or targeted advertising
13.2 Canada
The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25) give you rights to access and correct your information and to withdraw consent. If you withdraw consent, some Services may stop working for you. In Quebec, you can also ask us to stop spreading your information or to de-index it, and to give you your information in a structured, commonly used technology format.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to:
- the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada
- in British Columbia, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia
- in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec
13.3 United States
If you live in California or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you can have the right to:
- know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, sell, and share, and get a copy of it
- correct it
- delete it
- opt out of its "sale", its "sharing" for targeted advertising, and targeted advertising (section 6)
- not be treated differently because you used these rights
In the last 12 months, we collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (such as email address, phone number, IP address, and cookie and device IDs); commercial information (your Pro plan and purchase history); internet and app activity; approximate location from your IP address; and the contents of messages you send us. Sections 2 and 3 describe the sources and the purposes.
We "sold" or "shared" identifiers (IP address, cookie and device IDs, and hashed newsletter email addresses) and internet and app activity to the advertising partners in section 4.2. We disclosed every category above to our service providers for business purposes. We do not collect sensitive personal information as California law defines it. We do not knowingly sell or share the information of anyone under 16. Section 9 explains how long we keep each category.
You can use an authorized agent to make a request for you. We may ask the agent for proof of your permission, and ask you to confirm your identity with us.
If we refuse your request, you can appeal. Reply to our answer with the subject line "Appeal". We answer the appeal in writing and explain our decision. If you disagree, you can contact your state attorney general.
13.4 European Economic Area and United Kingdom
Our Services are for people in North America. If you use them from the EEA or the UK, the GDPR or UK GDPR can apply. We rely on these legal bases: to perform our contract with you (your account and Pro), our legitimate interests (security, analytics, and improving the Services), your consent (where the law requires consent for cookies or marketing), and legal obligations. You have the rights in section 13.1. You can also object to processing, ask us to limit it, and ask for a portable copy. You can complain to your local data protection authority.
13.5 How to make a request
Email [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy", or write to us at the address in section 15. Tell us what you want us to do. We check your identity before we act. For example, we ask you to write from the email address on your account or to confirm details of your account.
We answer within 30 days. If we need more time and the law allows it, we tell you why and when you can expect our answer. We do not charge a fee unless the law allows it and we tell you first.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We put the new date at the top of this page. If we make a material change, we also tell you by email or in the Services before the change takes effect.
15. Contact us
