A private space company in America has just raised half a billion dollars. And some of the most successful venture capital funds in the world are behind it.

- Redondo Beach, California based aerospace company Impulse Space has successfully raised $500M USD in a new Series D financing round
Why it matters:
- Impulse Space is one of the most advanced private aerospace companies in the United States and has developed orbital transfer vehicles that are capable of moving satellites and other payloads between different orbits after launch

- The new Series D funding round as led by 137 Ventures and Banner VC and included participation from early backer of Impulse Space including Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund, Lux Capital and Linse Capital
- Impulse Space has now raised more than $1B USD in total venture capital funding since inception

- Impulse Space founder Tom Mueller was the first employee at Elon Musk’s SpaceX and led the development of key engines for SpaceX including Merlin and Draco
